This week you will consider the concepts, ideas, and themes in a book written on the dawn of a new century. Like the Issue Analysis Paper, please consider major groups involved in the policies and ideas presented, laws and/or policies that came into being as a result of this book, the benefits or challenges of involvement by international organizations, and how a biblical worldview can be applied to understanding the outcome of the issue. The critical analysis and application you apply to this paper will be vital experience as you prepare to write your final briefing paper. INSTRUCTIONS You will write a book review on Our Global Neighborhood by the Commission on Global Governance. Your Book Review must include 3 sections: Summary, Critique and Application. Your summary must recap the main theme of the book and answer the following questions: What is the overall perspective, purpose, or argument of the book? If the author wanted you to get one idea from the book, what would it be? Your critique must present your evaluation of the book’s strengths and weaknesses. These companies will be identified from watching the BBC News (Channel 100), Bloomberg (Channel 33), or reading the New York Times, Washington Post, or the Financial Times or other international papers/magazines which provides daily information on businesses that are growing internationally. You are responsible for putting together a two-page summary which outlines, why this company is expanding into the market. Then identify some of the major risk factors that they may be up against that when they are encountering as they work to expand this operation within this host country. You will need to identify 4-5 key points/areas in which you should be able to elaborate which supports your position. Your supervisor has asked you to produce a white paper in which you discuss at least three strategies that IGOs, states and/or other NGOs use for enforcement of international law. Your overall focus should be on the information you have learned and how your NGO should act on that information. You will then write an 2-4 page testimonial to the UN Human Rights Commission. As we have discussed actors such as NGOs, epistemic communities, and government representatives must work to apply legal norms within the context of current world politics. demonstrate an understanding of the human rights issue, an awareness of the difficulty of applying international norms to the case, and an ability to communicate it effectively.
