Based on the above, choose any one of the six (6) pillars of character and work out an activity to teach learners that particular value to help create a favourable learning environment.

Think about the goal of teaching:
We want our learners to learn!
And for learners to learn, we need to have an effective classroom environment that promotes learning.
If teachers cannot manage a classroom, learning cannot take place.
Before responding to learner misbehaviour, teachers should ask themselves the following:
“What action will be the best choice in helping a learner move toward self-control?” (Savage & Savage, 2010, p.8). This calls for teachers to make rational decisions.
Based on the above, choose any one of the six (6) pillars of character and work out an activity to teach learners that particular value to help create a favourable learning environment.

Family and Community Assignment part 1
Partnering with families and the community to promote science supports the development of all children. Practice your skills for connecting with families and the community this week by:
Reflecting on center communities and families and local community resources related to science
Identifying two resources for Science, based on the current interests of a child you are observing in labs
Create a resource that you WOULD send home to the children’s families relating to science resources
This project is two steps:
Step One:
Write a minimum of a one page paper covering the following information:
Open the paper by describing the classroom community (age group, room design, number of children/teachers, etc) and the interests of the children in the classroom that you have observed that are related to science or scientific inquiry. Discuss the developmental domains you have observed (reference your Child Running Records), areas of strength and areas they may be working on with the children.
Next, you will share some basic information about the local community the child care center is located in. Then you will conduct some research and search for two resources/places** that children could visit with their families that are science related and connect to their interests. Share those resources in this section and why you chose to share them with the families. (Make connections here to your observations/visits with the children, what the children can do at these sites, etc.)
Wrap up your paper by sharing how you will be sharing this information with families and how you will encourage them to share feedback with you after they visit.
Step Two:
Create a simple brochure/Flyer advertising one of the Community Resources you shared.
Share the name, address, phone number, website and any additional information the families would need.
Create two questions/activities the families could answer/do when visiting there such as sharing feedback from the child on the visit, having them draw a picture, taking photos of child engaged in activity, etc.
Design a flyer with all of the above information. Try to keep it simple with simple graphics but yet still eye catching as well.
Then you will submit your paper and Flyer in the Link on Blackboard.
**While doing your research, “Resources in the community” refer to places in the community that provide cultural as well as educational experiences for children and families relating to SCIENCE. Please do NOT use the DiVinci Science center as one resource but instead look around at museums, factories, local landmarks and look to see what you could share with families.
For example, if I was teaching in Bucks County, the Bowman’s Tower and Wildflower Preserve is an area I would recommend a visit too to families as my children are very interested in bugs, butterflies and flowers and all of those items can be found there.

It must include an ohio state standard for 4th or 5th grade.

This is for social studies methods for 4th and 5th grade. I need a unit plan focusing on one subject/event that contains 5 lesson plans. It must include an Ohio state standard for 4th or 5th grade. Each lesson must have an explanation of activity or pictures/work sheets. This must be done in my schools lesson plan format which I will provide. We are allowed to put N/A when needed for things on the lesson plan like parent involvement, vocab, outside assignments, and the reflection and evaluation don’t need done. We are allowed to use lessons from sites like teacher pay teacher and the like. My original idea that I had was to do Ohio history strand-heritage- content statement 4 and 5 …see in picture

Not a pdf. 10 points extra credit: submit a link to your e-portfolio (embed at the end of the assignment).

Objective: This assignment aims to take the ideas you have learned from different educational philosophers, what you are observing in the field, and your beliefs and integrate these into your educational philosophy. The goal is for you to align your educational beliefs with known educational philosophers.
Task: Discuss your educational philosophy and infuse why you want to be a teacher. Includes the theorists we covered in this course that you agree with (use the PowerPoints in discussions 2 & 3). You should use quotes from the theory/theorists that represent your belief system. Provide examples of these beliefs based on your life experiences and/or field experiences. Use quotes and cite your work according to APA. This means in-text citation and a reference section.
See the attached essay planner to guide your educational philosophy. Make sure your introduction ends with a clear thesis with three philosophical beliefs. Each of these beliefs is a body paragraph. Develop a solid conclusion.
Helpful tips:
Have a title page.
Introduction: This should start out general, where the first 1-2 sentences are general (importance of theory and how it influences practice…), then you can get more specific and discuss the theory you are aligned to. The last sentence should be your thesis and identify your educational philosophy (based on the theories presented in the discussions).
Body paragraph 1
One theorist and their belief; how this affects learning or teaching. Use a quote or paraphrase from the discussions/PowerPoints.
Body paragraph 2
One theorist and their belief; how this affects learning or teaching. Use a quote or paraphrase from the discussions/PowerPoints.
Body paragraph 3
One theorist and their belief; how this affects learning or teaching. Use a quote or paraphrase from the discussions/PowerPoints.
Conclusion
Summarize/Restate the task and your thesis (three ideas from theory)
Notice the APA format. See below for details. Cite your source (in-text and at the end).

When was this policy/program/practice initially developed?

A 10-12 page paper (double-spaced, APA format) that addresses the following prompt: Describe the history of a contemporary education policy, program, or practice (e.g., charter schools, the Common Core State Standards, phonics-based reading instruction). When was this policy/program/practice initially developed? What problem was it intended to solve? Who were the major players and stakeholders? How has it developed and changed over time? Far more than a summary of events, this essay calls on you to craft an argument about the connections between the past and the present. How did we get to where we are today? What can we learn from the past? In what ways does your historical inquiry position you to make fresh contributions to a current educational issue? Note: Students must reference at least 3 primary source materials in their analysis.
